How true this poem is and I recomend that we all read it to remind each and every one of us adults.

Ringa’s Favorite Poem.

FA M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
'Oh excuse me please' was my reply.

He said, 'Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you.'

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
'Move out of the way,' I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

'While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.'

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
'Wake up, little one, wake up,' I said.

'Are these the flowers you picked for me?'
He smiled, 'I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.'

I said, 'Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.'

He said, 'Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway.'

I said, 'Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.'

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Don't ignore and God will bless you always.

hey there,
thanks for responding - don't always get that privelege on this machine. Just curious as to where in auckland you and your family lived. I live with mine in New Lynn, we've been up here for just over a year now and i've got to admit im still adjusting to some things. Originally we all come from a small town in the bay of plenty called Kawerau. The kind of place where everybody knows everybody, and knows everything just after it has happened!!!
As for the motorbike, i wish i could claim ownership of it but no, that picture was taken at a recent visit to MOTAT. I've always wanted to but never owned or learned how to ride a motorbike, i remember as a little kid my older brother used to have several and would take me for rides around and around the little park in our street - i thought i was soooo cooooool!!!!!!
Just stopped for a moment to peruse your profile and a smile crept over my face as i read the music section - nice to know others can combine their tastes to range from ac/dc to ccr!!! I love all that kind of music, anything really but i have to admit that im still very much stuck in the 70/80's era - you know, back when you could sing along to songs and know all the words!
Anyway, i should be diverting my attention away from here and attending to more practical matters - i just love talking. Take care barb

Hi there,

just wanted to thank you for the contact but of course the universe soon showed me more than that. I was reading your poem about family and it so fits in with where i am at in life, having just quit my full time job to be able to go back to being a mum to my 3 boys. Reading that just confirmed for me how right my decision has been. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Ringa, I will definitely make sure that I research everything beforehand so that there will be no breaches of copyright or other issues. That is great news to hear that your daughter got a buyer for her house! I'm sure the new owner will be very pleased with it Congratulations on the sale!

Yup it is a stunning house. I'm sure there will be someone out there willing to buy it. I featured it on the photos and blog section to give it some more exposure, hopefully that will help! I am always on late at night working on Enzed Live hehe. I think it's going really well and we are slowly starting to grow so that's good.

wow your a power house of information... I am honoured to know you... I will check both of the sites you mention. Will do it as soon as I am finished here actually. I have not been able to watch anything but my computer lately... I am really busy with literature reviews, research proposals and essays and just a few short months to go... I am also looking into the prison system. I will be going in and out of the women's prisons here in Victoria as part of my research proposal...good value I think. Tino rangatiratanga is a major interest of mine. Thanks for your views... similar to my own.
